It’s official, and it’s a significant milestone, Green & Fortune have achieved B Corp Certification, joining a global community of businesses committed to using business as a force for good.

At Green & Fortune, we’ve always believed great hospitality and positive impact can go hand in hand. Whether we’re delivering catering for a major conference, serving guests at a Candlelight concert or welcoming visitors to Wesley’s Café, our goal has always been the same; to create memorable experiences while doing business in a way that benefits people, communities and the planet.

What Does Becoming a B Corp Mean?

B Corp certification is awarded by B Lab to businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. The process is intentionally rigorous, examining every aspect of how a business operates, from governance and employee wellbeing to environmental impact, supply chain practices and community engagement.

For us, this certification isn’t about reaching a finish line. It’s about formalising principles that have guided Green & Fortune since we started in 2008 and holding ourselves accountable for continuous improvement as we grow.

Bringing Sustainable Hospitality to Central Hall Westminster

From menu curation and supplier sourcing to waste reduction initiatives, sustainability is embedded throughout our operations. For us, sustainable hospitality isn’t a side dish – it’s simply how hospitality should be delivered.

Each year, we cater for conferences, graduations and receptions that welcome thousands of delegates through the venue’s doors, while also serving visitors every day at Wesley’s Cafe. Increasingly, customers want more than exceptional food and service. They want confidence that their catering is being delivered responsibly and that we share their sustainability goals. Our B Corp certification provides independent verification of that commitment.

Better Food, Thoughtfully Sourced

Food For Thought Menus: Reducing food waste and food miles is high on our agenda and option is created with this in mind. If you’re keen to send out a stronger message about food sustainability through the catering at your event, this is a great option to consider. These dishes have been created to use underused ingredients, ingredients that might otherwise go to waste and in some cases dishes that heavily minimise waste.

Too Good to Go: We also participate in the Too Good to Go initiative in Wesley’s Cafe, helping to fight food waste by ensuring surplus food reaches our customers (hopefully, that’s you) rather than landfill.

Suppliers that share our values: We work closely with local London based producers and trusted suppliers who share our values. All our coffee supplied for events and in the café is from Old Spike which was founded in Southwark and 65% of their profits directly fund their social and environmental goals to tackle homelessness. London Smoke & Cure are another supplier based in Streatham, London. They use renewable electricity, reduced packaging and comprehensive waste management systems, as well as delivering all their orders by e-cargo bikes.

We continuously look for ways to reduce our environmental footprint without compromising the guest experience. Food sits at the heart of what we do, every menu is an opportunity to make better choices. The result is catering that delivers exceptional quality while supporting clients’ sustainability goals.

Creating Impact Beyond the Plate

Our responsibility extends far beyond the food we serve. Even though we talk about our sustainable menus all day every day, it isn’t quite enough to single-handedly obtain us a B Corp certification. We have a responsibility to have a positive impact not just on the environment, but on all our stakeholders, as well as the wider community.

For our people: As a London Living Wage accredited employer, we’ve long believed that investing in our people is fundamental to building a successful business. Our business is powered by people and we continue to support our teams through training and development opportunities that help create rewarding careers within hospitality.

Community impact
: This is equally important and remain central to what we do. Since 2019, our annual St Patrick’s Day fundraising event has raised more than £272,000 for charitable causes including Hospitality Action and The London Irish Centre.

Alongside this, we continue to support efforts to reduce food poverty in London, having donated more than 20,000 meals to Copenhagen Street Food Bank in King’s Cross, a programme launched during the pandemic and sustained ever since.

Looking Ahead

Achieving B Corp certification is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of, but it’s only the beginning. The certification gives us a framework to continue improving, challenging ourselves and finding new ways to create positive impact through hospitality served at Central Hall Westminster.
