Aldersgate

Named after the street where Methodist founder John Wesley had his pivotal ‘Aldersgate experience’, the Aldersgate Room is a striking event space imbued with the rich heritage of Central Hall Westminster.

It holds up to 250 people in reception or theatre style, and its distinctive décor is made up of both modern and period features. These include decorative alcoves, vaulted ceilings, bespoke chandeliers, a glass-panelled conservatory, and gallery-style track lighting throughout.

The Aldersgate Room is located on the Lower Ground Floor, providing easy access for delegates and guests at awards, seminars, or meetings. It is also next door to our public café, giving you excellent footfall for gallery exhibitions.

Wesley's Cafe is located on the lower ground level and can be accessed by stairs or a passenger lift, it was completely refurbished during August 2018  The cafe offers a bright and airy location for members of the public and regular visitors to our building to relax and enjoy a variety of food and refreshments. As an independently run establishment, Wesley’s Café is also a local alternative to the many chains in the surrounding area.​

As of 1st March 2020, Wesley’s Café is run in partnership with Green & Fortune, bringing a fresh approach to the food and drink served daily.

Broadbent

Reflecting our rich history with the Methodist Church, the Broadbent Room takes its name from the Reverend Martin Broadbent, the former Chair of the Church’s South West chapter.

It is an extremely versatile space, with a capacity of 30 people in theatre style, natural light, optional blackout facilities, and a convenient Ground Floor location.

The Broadbent Room is perfectly suited for smaller meetings and also makes an ideal cloakroom or box office for concerts in the Grand Hall. It may also be used for seminars, as breakout space, or for seated lunches or dinners.

Wesley's Street Cafe is located to the left of Central Hall Westminster's main entrance on the junction of Storey's Gate, Tothill Street and Victoria Street/Broad Sanctuary.  The Café is run in partnership with Green & Fortune, bringing a fresh approach to the food and drink served daily.

A selection of take away coffee, tea, soft drinks, pastries, sandwiches and snacks are available. 

The cafe is an extension to Wesley's Cafe on the lower ground level inside Central Hall Westminster. The main cafe offers a bright and airy location for members of the public and regular visitors to our building to relax and enjoy a variety of food and refreshments.

Lecture Hall and Library

The highly-adaptable Lecture Hall and Library can be combined into a single room for receptions of up to 1,000 people.

In-room features include impressive triple height ceilings, natural daylight, and a built-in stage – providing a versatile room for holding conferences, seminars, exhibitions, and even graduation ceremonies.

There is also direct access to the Lecture Hall and Library from the Grand Foyer on Level 1, which can be used as a convenient registration area if needed.

It is multifaceted and offers plenty of natural daylight, optional blackout facilities, and air conditioning. Its striking circular shape also perfectly shows off Central Hall Westminster’s unique architectural style.

As an event space, the George Thomas Room is ideal for meetings, seminars, and seated lunches or dinners – and can hold up to 150 people in theatre style. It also has two adjacent syndicate rooms that can be used as additional breakout or catering areas if needed.

Taking its name from the prominent Methodist layman Sir Robert Perks, the Robert Perks Room is a bright, versatile space located on Level 1.

The Robert Perks Room can hold up to 150 people in theatre style, and is especially well-suited to formal events such as meetings, seminars, and seated lunches or dinners. It may be hired on its own, or along with two adjacent syndicate rooms located on the same level.

Maurice Barnett

Like the John Tudor and Dinsdale Young rooms, the bright and airy Maurice Barnett Room takes its name from a former Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Central Hall  – in this case the Reverend Maurice Barnett who served until 1980.

As an event space, the Maurice Barnett Room is extremely versatile and is ideal for all manner of seminars, meetings, and training sessions.

It holds up to 60 people in theatre style, and features large windows, optional blackout facilities, and an impressively high ceiling. It also interconnects with an adjacent syndicate room that can be used as a convenient catering, cloakroom or registration area.

Dinsdale Young

The bright and inviting Dinsdale Young Room is located on Level 1, and takes its name from the Reverend Dinsdale Young – the Methodist Superintendent Minister between 1914 and 1938.

It is ideally suited for holding seminars, meetings, and drinks receptions thanks to its flexibility, and can cater for up to 60 people in theatre style. Its high windows provide plenty of natural daylight, with optional blackout facilities also available. 

The Dinsdale Young Room is also adjacent to a syndicate room, which you can hire to use as a convenient catering, cloakroom or registration area, or simply to provide a breakout area for your delegates.

Guided tours

As a landmark Grade II* listed building in the shadow of Westminster Abbey and Big Ben, Central Hall Westminster is a must-see attraction when visiting this iconic part of London.

We offer free guided tours to all visitors to our premises, introducing them to our unique history and beautiful architecture. Tours are available 7 days a week, and last for 20 minutes each.

Visitor information

Our 20 minute tours cover the past 100 years of Central Hall Westminster’s history and include a visit to our skyline terrace, which overlooks central London.

You can continue your tour in our multimedia exhibition area, and also purchase related gifts and merchandise from our on-site bookshop. We encourage all guests to sign our visitors’ book and make a donation towards our continued maintenance of this historic venue.

  • Monday to Saturday, 10am-4pm
  • Sundays, 2pm-4pm

William Sangster

The William Sangster Room shares its name with the Reverend William Edwin Sangster, the former Methodist Superintendent Minister.

It is a multifaceted, flexible room that offers natural light, optional blackout facilities, and air conditioning. Its unique circular shape also reflects the unique architectural style of Central Hall Westminster.

The William Sangster Room is flexible enough to set up in multiple styles, and has a maximum capacity of 150 people in theatre style. It also is discreetly located on Level 2, providing a perfect setting for formal events such as meetings, seminars, and seated lunches or dinners.

It holds up to 60 people in theatre style, and features beautiful arched windows with optional blackout facilities – providing an extremely welcoming and versatile setting for seminars, meetings, and drinks receptions.

The John Tudor Room is also interconnected to an adjacent syndicate room on Level 2, which you can use as a convenient catering, cloakroom or registration area, or simply to give your delegates additional space.

The Great Hall

The Great Hall is our flagship room, and the jewel in the crown of Central Hall Westminster. The Hall’s unique architecture was and still is considered a marvel of engineering in its time.  Its stunning period features include a self-supporting domed ceiling that remains the largest of its kind in Europe.

As central London’s largest purpose-built event space, the Great Hall offers an expansive capacity of over 1,500 guests. It also features a brilliantly designed stage area and excellent acoustics that create a surprisingly intimate ambience for live concerts, award ceremonies, graduations, television recordings and conferences.

President’s

Formerly the office of the Methodist President at Central Hall Westminster, the aptly-titled President’s Room is a private, elegant meeting room located on Level 3.

It is perfect for small board meetings or executive business events, and can hold up to 18 people in executive boardroom style and 24 in total. 

The President’s Room has been styled in a traditional manner, with modern concealed up-lighting, a specially commissioned central chandelier, and original wood panelling on all its walls. Its discreet upper-level location also ensures your delegates of complete peace and quiet.

The Great Hall Balcony

The Great Hall Balcony forms a part of the Great Hall. It is located on the fourth floor and is surrounded by Rickards Foyer and the North and South Rotunda.

The balcony has tiered seating looking down to the third floor Great Hall stage and organ.  The Great Hall balcony increases the capacity for events in the Great Hall with an additional seating for up to 2,084 seating for a standing concert or 1,884 seated.

The entire Great Hall with balcony included creates an ideal space for live concerts, award ceremonies, graduations, television recordings and conferences.

The Great Hall is our largest space and the most awe-inspiring at Central Hall Westminster. The Hall’s architecture is what makes it so unique and remains an incredible feat of engineering. Classic features include its self-supporting domed ceiling - the largest of its kind in Europe.
