Slavoj Žižek, a celebration at Central Hall Westminster

Tuesday, 15th April 2025

7:30pm BST

Join the rockstar philosopher and revolutionary Slavoj Žižek for a celebration of his life and thought. Expect dialectics, psychoanalysis, and jokes.

Erudite and comic, ironic and profound, philosopher Slavoj Žižek has travelled into territory where few of us dare to tread – and aged 75 he shows no signs of becoming less provocative.

In this very special celebration we’ll delve deep into his life story and intellectual journey. From his life and education in the former Yugoslavia under Soviet rule, where his master’s thesis was denounced by the authorities for being ‘not Marxist enough’ and he fought to democratise Slovenia and defend human rights, to his current position as one of the 21st century’s most renowned public intellectuals, this is a one-of-a-kind glimpse into the makings of the man widely known as ‘the most dangerous philosopher in the West’.

We’ll explore his philosophical journey through Hegel and Lacan. And we’ll hear his thoughts on the state of the world and our prospects for the future. What does he think about AI, chatbots, and the other new technologies of our age? Is there hope left for humankind in an age of impending climate catastrophe? Is progress really a good thing?

Discover the answer to all, some, or none of these questions from one of the most outrageous and maverick thinkers of our time.

Presented in Partnership with How To Academy.
