Live performance of Sister Act coming to the capital.

Sister Act the classic 1992 musical comedy starring Whoopi Goldberg is the latest film to be getting the ‘Live’ treatment. Amacoast Cinema are hosting the adequately titled event ‘Sister Act Live Choir’ at the historic Central Hall Westminster in London.

Film fans have been clamouring for pop-up and live cinema experiences in recent years, especially as audiences look for new, innovative ways to enjoy films they know and films that will turn into instant classics. Evident by recent large scale productions such as Titanic Live and Harry Potter & The Philosophers Stone held at Royal Albert Hall - and Secret Cinema’s three month run  of Moulin Rouge.

Sister Act Live Choir will boast a choir of over 30 gospel singers and full band, while they perform songs from the film soundtrack. “We intend to put on one of the most powerful and uplifting immersive live cinema experiences, to date” says founder, Dele Aro.  He added “it great to see the brand bringing large diverse groups of people together to create new memories around film”.

Amacoast Cinema have partnered with the Uplifted Voices choir for the show, who are part of the same team that the run the hugely popular annual University Gospel Choir of the Year (UGCY), now in it’s seventh year.

Sister Act a tells the hilarious story about Vegas lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier, who after witnessing a murder at the hands of her boyfriend has to enter witness protection to avoid a similar fate. She turns to the one place that she hopes he will never look - a Convent! Disguised as a nun Deloris woefully tries to adopt her new lifestyle. And after several false starts, she finally finds her voice at the heart of the church choir

Tickets are on sale now, the show opens on 21st April 2017.
