Over 170 event professionals discuss the event app challenge at Central Hall webinar
More than 170 online delegates joined Central Hall Westminster’s ‘Event App Challenge’ webinar yesterday to discuss financial, logistical and engagement-related considerations of event apps. Part of the Meet The Future event series by Central Hall, a panel of experts and suppliers shared their experience of app technology and answered questions sent in by the online audience.
During the session, the results of a poll run in the registration phase of the webinar were announced, revealing that 70% of event professionals feel a lack of familiarity amongst delegates is the biggest barrier to technology adoption at events, with overly complicated systems being the second largest barrier. The webinar panel, made up of Robert Dunsmore of GES, Wayne Morris of Guidebook, Richard Caelius from Eventbase and Luke Glen from DoubleDutch, discussed solutions to these issues from an app perspective, including involving the app in the fabric of the event planning and introducing it to delegates in the earliest possible communication.

The webinar has received praise from participants, including Viki Stapleton, Events Manager at Schroders, who tweeted: “This was a great webcast on event apps, with a strong panel. Well done!” A poll run at the end of the session revealed that over 75% of the participants felt they had gained enough of an understanding of event apps to be able to brief a supplier.
