How long have you worked at CHW for?
I’ve been a director for 16 years (Since September 2004), and Chair of the Board for just over 10 years.  However, I first visited CHW when I was about 14, when I used to come each year with my youth club to take part in a big annual Methodist Youth Rally (MAYC), with around 5000 of us!

What do you do at CHW?
I’m responsible for Chairing meetings of the Board of Directors and to create and drive the strategy of the company.  I spend time thinking about the ‘big picture’ things – how the company goes about developing its business, how we look after our employees, the sort of business we want to be, our ethics and our values.  More recently I have been encouraging the company to look outside our building in Westminster to see how we can use the talented people we have to help run other Methodist Church Buildings as venues too.

What do you like most about working at CHW?
The people of course – being able to work with a brilliant group of people in an environment where every day is different.  I also like to look back to see just what a difference we all have made to the business and the building over the last 10 years.

What do you like the most about working in the Events Industry?
Doing what we set out to do – provide an environment where individuals have an opportunity to be inspired.

Where is your favourite place to go in Westminster?
The top of our roof dome – brilliant when its sunny and The Cinnamon Club, it’s such a great restaurant.

What are you looking forward to most post lockdown?
Oh, I have quite a list; Spending time with my family, going to restaurants, seeing everyone in the office (of course)

Alongside this the Events team report to me and our mission is to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction at all times and to look for meaningful ways to enhance our client’s experience and grow our business opportunities.

As a member of the Board of Directors my role also includes the creation and maintenance of strategies in relation to the overall business including governance, staffing and continued progression.

  1. Never assume
