Military Concert - Scarlet & Gold 2012
Military music returns to the Central Hall, Westminster after much too long an absence. This stunning setting is to be the venue for the 2012 performances in the Scarlet and Gold Concert series.
The Hall was the venue during the 1970s and early 1980s for the Westminster Festival of Music which featured the Band and Trumpeters of The Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall, as well as massed choirs and special guests. The Kneller Hall Band of about 150 musicians included representatives from bands across the whole of the Army and presented a particularly colourful spectacle on the stage.
In 1989 the Band of The Blues and Royals was featured in a concert with Trumpeters from the Irish Guards while the most recent appearance of the Household Division came in the late 1990s when the Band of the Grenadier Guards combined for an ‘East Meets West’ concert with the Red Army Band from Moscow.
This is a very welcome return and the first of what we hope will be regular appearances at Central Hall Westminster
