The Environmental Policy is communicated to all employees via the company Intranet and made available to the public on the Company Internet site, or by paper copy. The involvement of its workforce, service partners and external interested and affected parties in its Environmental Policy is encouraged through effective communication procedures.   We are therefore committed to continually improve the integration of sustainability into our working environment and business processes. Our aim is to play a proactive role in contributing to achieving sustainability where we have influence. We are committed to accountability and transparency in our sustainability performance.   PRINCIPLES   Our Environmental Policy is based upon the following principles:   Energy Central Hall Westminster will monitor and manage its consumption and use of energy. We will work to reduce the consumption of energy and to reduce our contribution to emissions of gases and other pollutants which are believed to contribute to climate change.   Water We will work to reduce the consumption of water within our buildings and reduce discharges. To this end all toilets are fitted with water control devices.   Waste Central Hall Westminster will:   Work to reduce the volume of waste, by wherever possible:   reducing consumption of repairing re-using recycling   all materials used within its building both in daily operations and in refurbishment and other projects.   Minimise our use of paper and other office consumables, for example by double-siding all paper used, and identifying opportunities to reduce waste. Transport Central Hall Westminster will monitor and work to reduce its contribution to environmental emissions from travel undertaken for business purposes.   Procurement Central Hall Westminster will purchase goods and services to minimise adverse environmental effects. Central Hall Westminster will seek to undertake sustainable procurement actions including:   Using local suppliers where appropriate and encouraging suppliers to commit to improving environmental performance.   Creating promotional materials from a number of recycled materials, e.g. "Remarkable Pencils"™, made from recyled plastic cups and CD cases or certified sustainable wood.   Use of biodegradable chemicals   Minimise the use of solvent and lead based paints   Purchase FairTrade products wherever possible   Provide drinking water in our meeting rooms that is bottled on site, thus reducing transport.   Asking our suppliers to produce full traceability to prove they are only using humanely operated farms. Hopefully leading to the eventual abolishment of battery farmed animals and poultry.   Ensure that timber furniture, and any other timber products, are recycled or from well-managed, sustainable sources. Other Where possible, Central Hall Westminster will monitor and manage its consumption and use of other resources and materials used, working to minimise our reliance on non-renewable resources and to avoid use of any hazardous substances.   Our staff We recognise the responsibility staff have in contributing to good environmental management. Central Hall Westminster will seek to harness and channel the enthusiasm and interest shown by staff and will provide appropriate information and support to ensure that all staff exercise their environmental responsibility.   Our clients and visitors Central Hall Westminster will encourage our clients and visitors to cherish our environment so that it can be appreciated by future generations. We will: Actively assist clients in producing events that are environmentally sensitive.   Have procedures in place so as to minimise noise and disturbance to neighbours.
