HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT 2010
1.1 DIRECTOR
Overall and final accountability for health and safety Central Hall Westminster is that of the Director, supported by the Health and Safety Advisor and the Health & Safety Representatives. The Director fully supports the Health & Safety Policy. He has responsibility for:.
- Chairing Health & Safety meetings, inviting Service Partners or their representativies to these meetings.
- Montoring internal/external audits relaing to Central Hall Westminster and Service Partners.
- Implementing Central Hall Westminster's health and safety policy within
the Company.
- Ensuring that systems and procedures are in place to ensure that all employees fully understand and observe Central Hall Westminster's Health & Safety Policy and their delegated responsibilities.
- Ensuring that effective systems of communication and co-operation are provided within Central Hall Westminster.
- Ensuring that training needs are identified and resources provided for health and safety training throughout Central Hall Westminster.
- Ensuring that arrangements are in place for long-term health and safety aims and objectives.
- Ensuring that whenever the Health & Safety Policy is updated, all members of staff are informed.
- Requiring that effective planning to identify hazards and control risks are evaluated.
- Ensuring adequate insurance cover is provided for both statutory and Central Hall Westminster's needs and its subsidiaries.
- Ensuring that Central Hall Westminster is registered with the relevant enforcing local authority.
- Provide resources to achieve the safety aims and objectives.
- Oversee and attend all the health and safety meetings and appoint a representative incase of absence.
- Ensuring Central Hall Westminster's Health & Safety Policy arrangements are reviewed at least annually by the Health and Safety Advisor or other appropriate personnel, and whenever there is a substantial change in Central Hall Westminster's activities.
- Monitoring the performance of "employees" at all levels to ensure that their health and safety duties are being carried out effectivly.
- Ensuring that the Employers Liability Certificate is displayed in a prominent place.
- Ensuring that all information regarding health and safety is communicated to contractors and any other organisation or persons who may require it.
- Ensuring that adequate systems are in place to control all contractor activities in line with the contractors' policy and procedures.
- Regularly reviewing the systems of control to ensure efficient working of the health and safety programme and compliance with legislation.
- Liaising with and supporting all the Health & Safety Representatives at their site as and when required. These include the following personnel:
- Heads of Departments
- Health & Safety Representative
- Fire Officer/Warden
- First Aiders
