21 October 2010

Employment and Skills Summit 2010

As the UK begins to look towards post recession recovery, this major event will investigate the measures necessary to move back towards full employment and create a workforce skilled for the needs of a 21st Century economy.

This conference will bring together experts and stakeholders from across the public, private and third sectors to discuss the reforms instigated by the Coalition Government, measure progress made so far, look to what needs to happen in the future, and consider the path to building a truly integrated employment and skills system for Britain.

Why Attend

Throughout the day delegates will have the chance to engage with panels of experts from Government and beyond in considering key issues such as:
• What are the key Employment and Skills policies of the new Government
• Identify key initiatives and programmes which will shape employment services and skills provision in the coming years
• Find out how the move to a single work programme will affect providers and existing contracts
• Understand the key organisations and structures which will administer employment and skills policy
• Investigating effective job creation and employment programmes
• Consider the practicalities of the personalisation of skills provision through 'Skills Accounts' and increased choice
• Hear what funding is available for providers and what requirements will be made of bidders
• Consider how the skills needs of employers can be better integrated into skills provision and work training
• Consider initiatives specific to certain groups such as young people, those with disabilities or lone parents
Delegates will also have the opportunity throughout the day to network with colleagues from across the employment and skills sector, as well as take part in highly interactive workshop sessions.
Who Should Attend?
Delegates will be drawn from local authorities, welfare groups, private sector employment service providers, skills and training providers, higher and further education, apprenticeship programmes, local, regional and national employment initiatives, Sector Skills Councils, National Skills Academies Jobcentre Plus, LSPs, central government departments & bodies, regional development agencies, social inclusion officers, youth offending teams, disability groups, adult learning officers, corporate policy officers, trade unions, businesses and employers, academia and voluntary sectors.
